When veins in the rectum and anus swell and are inflamed, hemorrhoids occur. In America, approximately 3/4 of its people have hemorrhoids at some time in their life. Simple home treatments are generally sufficient to cure them, but occasionally they come back repeatedly and surgery is necessary.

How can you identify that you actually have hemorrhoids? Several symptoms can indicate that this is what you have. However if you even believe you have a hemorrhoid, you still have to visit a doctor, so they can let you know definitely. Following are several symptoms that may occur.

1. Pain – Pain is a hemorrhoids main symptom. It may be hemorrhoids if you feel pain when having a bowel movement, or feel pain for a long time after.

2. Itchiness – One hemorrhoid symptom can be rectal itching. The reason for this is the wetness and excrement in the rectum.

3) Pressure – A sign of hemorrhoids can be pressure in the rectum. The pressure is caused by the bulging hemorrhoid.

4. Bleeding – A hemorrhoid can cause rectal bleeding. This bleeding may take place when you move your bowels. When you pass stools, the pressure can result in bleeding. The inflammation and swelling of the anus can cause injuries when making a bowel movement.

5) Bulging – At times, there might be bulging felt on the anus with external hemorrhoids. When the stool pushes downward on the anus, this happens.

6. An Anal Lump – A lump can be present on your anus. This is caused by a hemorrhoid that has a blood clot inside. That might have to be taken out with an operation.

7) Unfinished Bowel Movements – If you usually have partial bowel movements, you might have hemorrhoids. This is defined as passing a little excrement and you still feel like you have to defecate, but can\’t.

There are only a few symptoms that indicate you have hemorrhoids. So be mindful if you have any of them. Rectal or anal pain indicates a problem. That does not necessarily mean that the problem is hemorrhoids. There are other causes of rectal pain. If you begin having pain, the first thing that should be done is to see your doctor.

Bleeding from the rectum is something to be concerned about. Several different things can cause bleeding. The reason for this could be something as minor as a fissure. This is a crack in the anal canal lining. You might have rectal polyps or cancer of the rectum. A doctor will be able to diagnose the problem.

If you are diagnosed with hemorrhoids, there are various simple treatments that can relieve the symptoms. But be certain that you look after them. However, be certain you handle them with care.
